Guangdong Port

Sha Tau Kok Port

Shatoujiao Port is located west of Shatoujiao in Yantian District, Shenzhen. It serves as an auxiliary passenger and cargo port for Yantian District, Longgang District, and the eastern Pearl River Delta region. Approved for opening to the outside world by the State Council in September 1984, it commenced operations in March 1985. A new cross-border bridge was inaugurated on January 28, 2005. Currently, the port operates under a "two-places, two-inspections" model, with a designed passenger throughput capacity of 15,000 people per day and a designed vehicle throughput capacity of 15,000 vehicles per day.

The Sha Tau Kok Port has been in operation for approximately 40 years. Following close coordination between the port authorities of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the reconstruction of Sha Tau Kok Port will be designed with a daily passenger throughput capacity of 40,000 and a daily vehicle throughput capacity of 2,500, representing a 26-fold increase in processing capacity. The future Sha Tau Kok Port will eliminate freight functions and be rebuilt as a dedicated passenger inspection port. This will further optimize the functional layout of Shenzhen-Hong Kong ports and support the development of the Sha Tau Kok Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Consumption Cooperation Zone. Demolition work at the Sha Tau Kok Port has now commenced.
